J.O. SIMS Ltd
The company J.O. Sims Ltd is the largest producer and supplier of sweet cherries in the UK. Due to Brexit and the restriction of access to employees, the client decided to automate the packaging and sorting processes, which was associated with the investment in 4 production lines consisting of devices from different suppliers.
What were the challenges?
The main challenge was to understand the production process and what the interactions between individual devices should be. During the project, our company conducted a series of meetings with both the customer’s representatives and each of the suppliers. Thanks to this, we were able to design a solution that would meet the client’s expectations.
What did we do?
For this project, we delivered 4 control cabinets based on a SIEMENS system to control the equipment from a total of 9 suppliers. The entire system manages four complete sorting and packaging lines. The project was tailored to meet all the customer’s expectations. Note that the system was designed to provide for major extension capabilities. On account of the high standards applicable to the food industry, the control cabinets are made of stainless steel and are IP65 rated.
What was the effect?
With the control cabinets supplied by our company, our Customer has gained an improved control of the process, thus saving the time of operators and optimising their work. The operating logic introduced to the program improved the operation of the lines and reduced losses due to product damage in transport.
